Lovesick, Music Theater by Sommer Ulrickson und Moritz Gagern

Lovesick premiered at the Neuöllner Oper in March 2010. Directed and choreographed by Sommer Ulrickson with music by Moritz Gagern, it was inspired by the story of U.S. astronaut Lisa Novak, who, in February 2007, drove cross-country in a fit of jealous rage, apparently intending to do harm to the paramour of another astronaut, with whom she was infatuated. Lovesick goes beyond Novak’s story and offers a musical rumination on the mental costs of infatuation. These are some of the photographs I took at a run-through shortly before the premiere.
