Writer, Translator, Editor.

I am an American based in Berlin. The pages on this site document a variety of articles I’ve published in academic and journalistic publications, along with some attempts at photography and playwriting. One section is devoted to my writings on the Iranian-American theater artist, Reza Abdoh and includes some of the interviews I conducted as part of my research for my doctoral dissertation on Abdoh, written back when I was a wee lad.

My most recent post is an essay published as part of a book in 2025, “Hypervalent Elegies: Death and Loss in the Late Works of Reza Abdoh.” Aside from that, everything collected here is getting quite old, and I have largely given up on writing, translating, and editing. I am, nevertheless, consistently surprised by the number of people who still stumble upon the site and poke around, and so I have left the site up for now.
